This is the third edition of a book whose second edition was reviewed here .  The first edition was an introduction to partial differential equations that incorporated most of the usual topics, including treatments of the Laplace, heat and wave equations and the Dirichlet and Neumann problems as well as the Fredholm theory of integral equations.

The second edition removed some of the more elementary background material and added new material on weak formulations, Sobolev spaces and variational methods. It also included more advanced treatments of local methods and DeGiorgi classes.

In this third edition a good deal of new and more advanced material has been added: linear parabolic equations in divergence and non-divergence form, the Navier Stokes equations and quasi-linear first order systems.  Compared with the first edition, this one is twice its length, and most of the second half deals with more advanced and specialized questions.

From edition to edition, this book has evolved into a rather specialized text. It is likely to be of more interest now to specialists than students new to the study of PDEs.
