Mathematical Treasure: Wilson’s Vector Analysis

Edwin Wilson (1879-1964) was a protégé of Josiah W. Gibbs (1839-1903), his professor at Yale. Wilson received his doctorate under Gibbs and remained at the institution to teach. Wilson’s Vector Analysis, published in 1901, was based on Gibbs’ lectures and went on to become a pioneering and influential book on the subject. Later, Wilson became a professor at MIT and authored several other textbooks.

The “Table of Contents” provides the scope and sequence for the topics covered in Vector Analysis.
