Mathematical Treasure: Mathematics of Henry F. Baker

Henry F. Baker (1866-1956) was a British mathematician who spent his career at Cambridge University. He is remembered primarily as an algebraic geometer. His first important published work was Abel’s Theorem and the Allied Theory, including the Theory of the Theta Function (1897).

 Baker’s “Preface” explains the work:

But Henry Baker’s magnum opus was his six-volume work, Principles of Geometry (1922-1933). Selected images are offered here, beginning with the title page and “Preface” from Volume I of the 1929 edition.
