Mathematical Treasure: Higher Algebra of George Salmon

In 1859, George Salmon (1819-1904) published Lessons Introductory to the Modern Higher Algebra, in which he built upon the theories of his colleagues George Boole, Arthur Cayley, and J. J. Sylvester to discuss invariant theory as a part of the linear algebra of transformations. The third edition of this work was released in 1876 and is examined here.
