Mathematical Treasure: Johann Heinrich Moritz von Poppe’s History of Mathematics

The son of a watchmaker and fellow practitioner of that craft, Johann Heinrich Moritz von Poppe  (1776– 1854) was a German mathematician, physicist, and educator. In 1828, Poppe published a history of mathematics “from the earliest to the most recent times”: Geschichte der Mathematik seit der ältesten bis auf die neueste Zeit.
